The 14th Shanghai International Pump & Valve Expo will be held from June 9 to 11, 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The exhibition is expected to cover an area of 60,000 square meters, bringing together over 1,200 exhibitors to showcase approximately 30,000 products, including pumps, valves, intelligent water supply equipment, pipes and fittings, motors, bearings, fans, compressors, and more. The expo will also feature dedicated sections such as "Chemical Pumps and Valves," "Innovative Technologies," and "Specialized and Sophisticated Enterprises," highlighting that chemical process pumps are evolving from traditional general-purpose equipment toward high reliability, intelligence, energy efficiency, and specialization.

From an industry trend perspective, the new development of chemical process pumps is first reflected in high efficiency and energy savings. As industries such as petrochemicals, fine chemicals, and new energy materials impose higher requirements for energy consumption control, pump products must not only meet flow and head demands but also operate efficiently across a wide range of conditions. Future new products should focus on developing hydraulic models with low net positive suction head (NPSH), high efficiency, and wide operating ranges to reduce energy waste and vibration risks caused by off-design operation.

The second trend is safety and leak-free operation. Chemical media are generally flammable, explosive, toxic, and highly corrosive. Mechanical seal failures can easily lead to environmental and safety accidents. Therefore, the design of chemical process pumps should enhance seal system configurations, such as cartridge seals, double mechanical seals, and auxiliary systems like Plan 52/53/54 and Plan 62. Additionally, leak-free structures such as magnetic drive pumps and canned motor pumps should be promoted under special operating conditions.

The third trend is material upgrading and specialized design. Different chemical media have significantly varying material requirements. New products should be developed for conditions such as high-salinity wastewater, strong acids and alkalis, solid-containing slurries, high-temperature heat transfer oils, and easily crystallizing media. This includes series configurations using materials like 2205, 7, 904L, Hastelloy, titanium, PTFE-lined, and silicon carbide ceramics to improve corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and erosion resistance.

The fourth trend is intelligent monitoring and digitalized operation and maintenance. The exhibition scope includes supporting products such as intelligent water supply equipment, motors, bearings, and actuators, indicating that pumps are no longer standalone machines but part of integrated fluid systems. In the future, chemical process pumps can integrate monitoring interfaces for vibration,, bearing status, seal leakage, and operating current, enabling fault warning and predictive maintenance.

Therefore, the design direction for new chemical process pump products should focus on: high-efficiency hydraulic models, low NPSH design, leak-free sealing, corrosion- and wear-resistant materials, modular structures, intelligent monitoring interfaces, and long-cycle operational reliability.
