It typically exhibits certain alkalinity and a tendency to crystallize. Depending on concentration, temperature, and impurity content, the requirements for chemical pump material selection, sealing structure, and operational stability vary significantly. Therefore, in the process of transporting sodium carbonate solution, the proper selection of Haifa chemical pumps is crucial for ensuring long-term stable system operation.
Under normal temperature and low-concentration sodium carbonate solution conditions, 304 and 304L stainless steel can generally meet corrosion resistance requirements are suitable for ordinary conveying systems. However, in high-concentration, high-temperature, or impurity-rich conditions, it is recommended to prioritize corrosion-resistant materials such as 316L and 2205 duplex stainless steel to enhance equipment service life and pitting resistance. If the medium contains high levels of chloride ions, special attention should be paid to chloride ion corrosion and higher-grade corrosion-resistant materials may be selected when necessary.
Since sodium carbonate solution is prone to crystallization under certain conditions, especially during pump shutdown, low flow rates, or low temperatures, crystal deposits can easily form in the mechanical seal chamber, impeller, and dead corners of the pipeline. Therefore, the structural design of the pump is particularly important. For crystallization-prone conditions, a large-flow-channel impeller structure can be adopted, along with appropriate flushing or insulation measures to reduce the risk of crystallization blockage. In some cases, magnetic drive pumps can also be used to mechanical seal leakage and maintenance issues.
In terms of pump type selection, Haifa OH2 chemical centrifugal pumps magnetic pumps, or vertical sump pumps are typically used for medium- and low-pressure conditions. If the sodium carbonate slurry contains a high amount of particles or sediment, wear-resistant slurry pumps or semi-open impeller structures may be considered. For continuous operation systems, special attention should be paid to pump efficiency, bearing stability, and seal life to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs. Overall, although sodium carbonate solution is not an extremely corrosive medium for chemical pumps, its crystallization tendency and long-term operational stability requirements are relatively high. In the future, the development of the chemical and new energy industries, intelligent chemical pumps with high efficiency, corrosion resistance, and low maintenance will be more widely applied in sodium carbonate transportation.
